Having Our Cake (Battenburg.. get it???) and eating it!

Well what can I say another chance to spend some time in another of O’Connor’s fabulous vans. Yes please! We were lucky enough to win the blog competition last year and picked our week to spend in Cornwall. After much deliberating (and teasing about cheating on him) we chose a different van to Noddy Windsor, going with Battenberg.

He was an absolute delight! Our main base was Tollgate Farm (a lovely little campsite) in Perranporth, which is within walking distance of the town centre, which has lots of family friendly pubs, including The Watering Hole which is situated on the beach itself and a perfect place to view the sunset). After a day of torential rain and wind (and I have to say our awning was the most secure on the campsite) the sun came out and we were off pootling along to St Ives for the day.

We missed the queen by a couple of days but didn’t think it would be fair for her to be upstaged by Batty! We also visited a lovely National Trust house called Cotehele with stunning gardens and great views over the valley and an amazing waterfall, The White Lady, at Lydford Gorge (which also has a very nice walk that leads to another fall called The Devil’s Cauldron).

Be nice to your camper and in turn your camper will be nice to you. A “good morning” and a “good night” doesn’t hurt and a bit of gentle coaxing when cruising up some hills doesn’t go a miss. We had so many people, once again coming to talk to us and commenting on Battenberg, which is lovely.

It was so sad to say goodbye to Battenberg at the end of the week but I would like to thank O’Connors once again for letting us have the pleasure of his company. We will hopefully see you again very very soon.
