When we announced to our friends and family that we were going on hols in Devon in a camper van with 2 adults and 5 kids, you can imagine the reaction!! They all said we were utterly bonkers and as the date drew closer even we questioned our sanity. However I am delighted to report it was a roaring success full of laughter and couldn’t have been more fun for adults and children alike.
We were horribly late picking up Sparty due to vile traffic and knew we had to hot foot it to our campsite in Coombe Martin as they were closing the roads for the carnival, which is when quote of the week occurred: Dave to Mum – “How fast do you think this thing goes?” Mum to Dave – “Well sweetie you know how most cars do 0-60 in around 10 seconds, we’ve been going for an hour and half and we’re not even close!!”
We picked a lovely campsite just a few mins walk from the beach and from the centre of Coombe Martin, and set up camp. All the kids in the van and adults in the awning, they all slept brilliantly every night (must have been the sea air), as did we (must have been the wine).
The sun shone (most of the time) and I think Sparty enjoyed all the attention he received on the campsite too. A thoroughly fab way to spend a week. Thank you again to all the team at O’Connors xxx
