So picture the scene….driving down a country lane very late at night after a rather bizarre evening where every food establishment we went to seemed to actually not want to feed us (whats with the “we dont do meals on tuesdays?” oh thats ok we’ll eat our fingers instead will we?) but were we bothered? Nope cos we beaming on our annual hippy adventure in Barbarossa (which is for those that know me is the nearest I will ever go to camping…Sam/Zoe will tell you my first question to them in year 1 was “he does have a plug for my straighteners roght?” Joking not! Anyway I get distraced…… When……. All the lights went out and we were plunged into complete darkness! Yes it could have been worse -Barbarossa was still purring away (think tractor like purring of course!) but there were no lights from any lamp or indicators or anything and seriously it was pitch dark man! So many thoughts and words were said…..what the f***, Ooohhhhhhh, Jesus!, oh well….and so many more!! But hey we’re not only glamorous ladies, we’re bloody resourceful too. Cue a mad moment scrambling for a torch, a brave soul walking funeral styly in front of the van showing the way (we didnt draw lots – it had to be Wozza, I’m scared of the dark on a good day!) and Nic holdng on to the steering wheel far too tightly and unecssarily going 2 miles an hour…..and yeah a superman of a taxi driver that pulled up and allowed us to trail his back lights. Coolio! (What is it with men and helpless females…tee hee!) Yep you don’t buy into the whole “vintage” experience without expecting the odd surprise but hell that’s all part of the fun! And the best bit? The very best bit? Get this – we mended Barb ourselves the next morning. I mean….us? girls? Mending him! Proper. You got any idea how many times I’m going to trade on that in the local pub! Might go down as one of the proudest moments of my life actually….! And the next defining moment? Yep I’m the Nic who has been outed by the other blog writer (Cheers mate). What better way to celebrate a “special birthday” than a convoy of 5 fantastic simply gorgeous vans trailing through the Devon countryside with a very youthful looking lady in the front one!! ps And no it doesnt matter that it was only a fuse! Big Thanks to the wonder team back at the ranch; Sam, Zoe, Pete – see you next year! Nic
