We decided that a fun holiday this year would be to hire a campervan and drive around Devon. We picked Nice Guy Eddie up on 4th May 2009 and started off towards North Devon. We had decided to stop off close to a village called Bucks Cross on a campsite with views out to sea. The weather was pretty cold and was blowing a gale. But we were pretty pleased with oursleves that we had got through the lanes of Devon without a hitch. The next two nights we spent up near Woolacombe and the weather perked up for a couple of hours each day, which was when we managed to take this photo of the camper and the sea behind it. The camper looks fantastic by the sea, in the sun. The fourth and last night we spent near Okehampton, though on the journey back down from Woolacombe, Eddie wanted us to feel part of the VW Camper club and broke his fanbelt. Fortunately, we were only 10 minutes from Okehampton and Pete was out to us in a flash and we were on our way again. Dropping Eddie off was really sad; I knew I would fall in love with him as I have loved VW Campers since I was 15, but Chris also had a really good time and was surprised at how easy they were to drive and how practical they are. It is so much easier than camping; you can just get up and drive away. Anyway thanks to O\’Connors and Nice Guy Eddie we are now on the hunt for our very own slice of VW heaven in the form of a camper and we can\’t wait to be trundling along again, cars behind us, doing 30mph up hills and generally just having a really good laugh and a good time.
