The arrival of the cooler weather inevitably means less customers arriving at O’Connors Campers. Camping in the autumn & winter isn’t everyone’s ‘cup of tea’. So we keep just a few of the vans ready for hires during this time. Wolverine and Noddy Windsor are our classic campers who enjoy a winter hire. Both are fitted with heating. Powered by camping gaz, this is certainly useful for warming up after a walk on the coast.
Our new VW California Campervans are available to hire throughout the year and can be booked for the bargain price of £395 per week (between November and March). They have unlimited mileage and fabulously efficient heating: offering luxurious, cosy camping and the promise of an affordable winter break.
Some campsites in Devon & Cornwall are open all year (those in green on our Campsite List map) plus many more besides. So if you fancy exploring this beautiful area without the crowds, there is still plenty to see and do. Deserted beaches, miles of coastal path and the possibility of stocking up on some original Christmas gifts, too.
Steve and Carl are busy in the workshop, getting the vans MOT’d, respraying and repairing as they go. Melissa is removing all the curtains & cushions ready to be washed, ironed and stored until the spring. Every piece of crockery, cutlery and equipment is taken out, carefully cleaned and packed up, leaving the vans looking a bit forlorn. Now comes the part I love: the upholstery. Where required, seats, beds and cushions might need restoring and replacing. These vans see a lot of use over the season and we love making them look fresh and shiny for the coming spring. In some cases, there’ll be new door cards. In other vans we might decide to replace everything or choose a new funky colour scheme. Devon Disability Collective in Exeter are brilliant upholsterers – we just love receiving the new cushions and seat covers we have ordered for the vans.
So it’s still a hive of activity here, even if it’s not sand castle weather! We are working hard to make everything even better for next season. So if you have a question about a hire, please get in touch. We are here during the week and are happy to chat through possibilities. If you are passing and fancy popping by, the kettle is always on.
